You can apply for damages for tort if you have been subjected to an infringement of your liberty (for example, unlawful detention), your privacy (breach of privacy), or your person (particularly an assault on the person – such as violent hair cutting).
Damages for tort are especially relevant if you have been subjected to sexual violations, including indecent assault and (attempted) rape.
The amount of compensation is determined based on a specific assessment of the circumstances of the case. The rule is found in section 26 of the Liability and Compensation Act.
