Compensation for loss of breadwinner for children is intended to financially compensate for the fact that your mother or father can no longer contribute to your support.
The compensation is determined based on the contributions to the child that the deceased parent would have been obligated to pay if they were still alive.
You can read more about the child support law here.
The compensation will typically consist of:
- Child support
- Confirmation expenses/clothing support
- Educational support (after turning 18 until the age of 24)
- If the deceased was the sole breadwinner, the compensation is increased by 100%.
- The rule is found in section 14 of the Liability and Compensation Act.
