The Department of Civil Affairs decides whether the money paid from the state treasury as compensation to an injured party in connection with a personal injury should be reimbursed by the perpetrator. The injury must be a result of the wrongdoer's violation of the Danish Criminal Code or a violation of the law on restraining orders, residence bans, and expulsions.
