The Criminal Injuries Compensation Board and the Board’s secretariat handle applications for compensation for individuals who have suffered physical or psychological personal injury as a result of a criminal offense. The rules governing this can be found in the State Compensation to Victims of Crime Act (Offererstatningsloven). The Board awards compensation according to the general rules of Danish law. This means, among other things, that compensation and reimbursement is calculated according to the rules in the Liability and Compensation Act (Erstatningsansvarsloven).
