Apply for permission to collect under § 3 or § 4

In order to hold a legal collection, a permit is required. On this page, you will find the application forms you need when applying for permission to hold a collection.

We recommend using the digital solution, as it ensures that we receive all the necessary information to process your application. You can find the digital self-service solution here (danish).

However, there are exceptions in the law to the requirement for a permit. You can read more about the exceptions under Frequently Asked Questions in the section Do I need permission for my collection?

Please note that we publish a number of details about your collection on our website when we grant permission for the collection. We publish, among other things, the full name of the collector, the purpose of the collection, and the method of collection.

The Danish Fundraising Board keeps a publicly accessible list of approved collections, where these details are available. You can find what information we publish about approved collections under Approved Collections.

Application for permission for a specific collection (§ 3)

Please note that you may not start your collection until you have received permission from the Danish Fundraising Board.

To apply for permission under § 3, you must be an individual who is of legal age, or a legal person with a CVR number (i.e., public and private institutions, companies, organisations, and associations, etc.). A permit under § 3 can be granted for up to 1 year at a time, for a specific purpose.

Please note that circumstances from previous collections may result in a refusal of permission under § 3. This would apply if you have previously violated collection rules.

This may have an impact on the processing time for applications for permission to collect under § 3, as circumstances related to any prior collections must be investigated.

A permit under § 4 can only be granted to organisations that are approved under the Tax Assessment Act, are eligible to receive donations that can be deducted from the income tax return, and have existed for 3 years or more. The permit is valid for up to 3 years.
